Regular application of waterproof agent and / or leather product on the upper will significantly improve the waterproof capabilities of your work boot or safety shoes upper. Most importantly apply product after cleaning the products or after your boots were exposed to rain / wet working conditions.
For optimal care of your leather work boots/ shoes, follow these general guidelines:
SK Leather Care Wax:
- Frequency: Every 2-4 weeks.
- Reason: Regular conditioning helps maintain the leather's flexibility and prevents it from drying out or cracking. Adjust the frequency based on how often you use your boots and environmental conditions (e.g., exposure to water, heat, or harsh conditions).
SK Waterproof Agent:
- Frequency: Every 1-2 months or as needed.
- Reason: Waterproofing agents create a barrier to prevent moisture from penetrating the leather. Reapply when you notice that water no longer beads up on the surface or if the boots have been exposed to heavy moisture.
Applying SK Care Products to your safety boots is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you achieve the best results:
1. Clean Your Work Boots
Remove Dirt: Use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt, mud, or debris from the surface of your boots.
Wipe Down: If necessary, wipe the boots with a damp cloth to remove any remaining grime. Allow the boots to dry completely before proceeding.
2. For Application of SK Leather Care Wax
Prepare the Balm: Take the SK Leather Care Wax and use a clean, soft cloth and sponge.
Apply Evenly: Gently rub the balm onto the leather in a circular motion, making sure to cover the entire surface evenly. Pay special attention to areas that experience more wear and tear.
Work It In: Allow the balm to penetrate the leather by working it in thoroughly. This helps condition and restore the leather’s natural oils and flexibility.
3. Let It Absorb
Drying Time: Allow the balm to absorb into the leather. This usually takes about 15-30 minutes. Avoid using the boots during this time to ensure the balm is fully absorbed.
Buff (Optional): If desired, buff the leather with a soft cloth to restore shine and remove any excess balm.
4. For Application of SK Waterproof Agent
Preparation: Ensure the boots are clean and dry before applying the SK Waterproof Agent.
Apply Evenly: Point the nozzle in the direction of the shoe and evenly spray across the entire surface of the shoe.
